Elder Thomas Lee Holsey, Pastor, Superintendent and Chairmen of the Pastors and Elders Counsel has been unanimously voted as Bishop Designate of The Delaware Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, by the General Board, Church of God In Christ, Inc worldwide, Tuesday, April 7th, 2009.
Under Bishop Blackshear leadership over the past 48 years, Delaware Jurisdiction experienced tremendous growth. In 1951 The Jurisdiction comprised of three (3) churches, at the death of Bishop Blackshear in September of 2008 there where 17 churches and missions. Bishop Designate Holsey, has served under Bishop Blackshear as one of his Administrate Assistants, and Chairman of the Pastors and Elders Counsel. Bishop Holsey serves in several national offices under the leadership of Bishop Charles E. Blake, Prelate of Church of God In Christ Worldwide; fourth-largest Protestant religious denomination in the United States with an estimated membership above 6.5 million members. COGIC headquarters are located at Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee.
During the first Ministers and Workers Conference, April 20-26th under Bishop Thomas Lee Holsey, seven (7) new churches entered into the Jurisdiction. Harvest Temple, COGIC, Delmar, DE, under Pastor Braxton Clarke, Power & Praise, COGIC, Harrington, DE., under Pastor Carlos Cannon, Christian Pavilion, COGIC, Wilmington, DE., under Pastor James Parker Weaver, III, and New Birth Ministries, COGIC, Salisbury, MD, under Pastor Alfonso Wilson,. Three of the new Churches are established under a New District, The Bishop James L Eure Memorial District, organized under the leadership of Bishop James Eure, Jr. As of April 28, 2009 the jurisdiction had established six (6) districts and operated 23 churches and missions.
